1908 - 1996

Lincoln Kieffer, I should say Eugene Lincoln Kieffer, was secretary-treasurer of the War Cover Club from 1973 to 1983 and was one of the “greats” of our Society.

I stress “greats” because he held a thankless job for ten years and was a great booster of the War Cover Club.

Without men of Lincoln’s caliber our organization would have failed long ago. As it is with all clubs and/or societies, there are those who give and those who do not. Lincoln was one who gave and gave more than his share of time and effort.

L. Gene Kieffer passed away on December 8, 1996 at 88! He received the Military Postal History Society’s Outstanding Service Award in 1992, which was long overdue. He will be missed by many.

According to the Bulletins I reviewed, he was “temporary” Sect-Treas from 1972 through 1984 at least.
