How to Search Back Issues of the MPHS Bulletin

The Military Postal History Society has made nearly all of its newsletter back issues available free to the public.

Researchers are encouraged to view these back issues, and use the information in them.

We have provided more than one way to find information in these back issues, since the raw text of these newsletters alone occupies 34 megabytes.

In addition, by design, the Society newsletters have contained much information that spans across multiple issues. In some cases, long articles were broken up and spread across issues and even years, of the 390+ newsletters stored so far. During the years since the Society was founded (1937), several subjects have appeared repeatedly in the newsletter, for instance APO locations. Often later articles have supplied new or corrected information. Thus, it may be necessary to study all articles on a particular subject across many newsletter issues.

New Search Feature

We are proud to announce that the MPHS has gathered up the text described above, and now provide a "search page" that allows researchers to find information by text.

After you enter a text string for searching, that web page will supply links to every Bulletin issue that contained that text.

Existing Google Search

Since the Society website has been operating, its contents have been supplied to Google, in order to add the information to their search "universe".

Our member Russ Carter read through all back issues of the newsletters and created a title and topic index.
