The Military Postal History Society featured a Presentation On Saturday October 22, 2022, using Zoom.
This MPHS zoom presentation was the 7th in our series and was made by long time MPHS member and Board representative Earl Toops. A brief description of his presentation follows:
THE CHALLENGES OF EXIBITING VIET CONG* MATERIAL: An in-depth look at the background to the stamp issues of the National Liberation Front and the Provisional Revolutionary Government of the “Republic of South Vietnam,” focusing on past controversies, catalogue and exhibit treatment, “how do we know if these stamps were ever postally used?;” and re-starting a postal service one week after the fall of Saigon on 30 April 1975.
This is NOT a presentation on military “trail” mail of the People’s Army of Vietnam but a discussion of how stamps, originally issued for propaganda purposes and to raise money for the war effort, became real postage stamps for a “nominally” independent country, the “Republic of South Vietnam.”
