Bob Swanson’s WW I Books Available to MPHS Members

As of June 2025, the Society has been provided with member-only access to First World War books written by Bob Swanson (our intrepid webmaster).

The primary book is the listing and history of all known domestic U. S. military facilities in the First World War. It was first published in 2000, and was updated with a second edition in 2018.

Mr. Swanson has agreed to allow an exclusive license for the Society to make this book (and the other two listed here) available to MEMBERS OF the SOCIETY only. (There is a single supplement file created of the “Facilities” book that contains a checklist of all domestic U. S. military facilities for which no postal history has been reported.)

In addition, Mr. Swanson has made available the monograph “Bluejacket Mail: A Postal History of the Great Lakes Naval Training Station During World War I”.

All of the above book contents are available in various e-book formats on the members-only section of the Society webpage. You can access the books using the links at:

https://militaryphs.org/swanson_books.html

NOTE: A username/password is required for access to the books’ content. Use the same username/password that was supplied quarterly by e-mail for access to the Society “Journal”.

Since these books are currently only available to members of the MPHS, anyone interested in having a copy should strongly consider joining the Society, if only to gain access to this valuable research.
